Kiting

It is said that Herdla is one of the few spots in the Bergen area that works well for kiting. You need to be able to kite upwind here, so it is not recommended for beginners.

The “Innsiden” spot is located 5 minutes further north across the bridge from “Utsiden.” It is a short little beach, 6-10 meters wide, with pebbles and coarse sand. Depending on the wind direction, it can be offshore with a north wind and onshore with a southeast wind. With a north wind, the wind can become a bit gusty as it comes over the old German airfield, but you also get completely flat water. This spot is right next to the bird reserve, so it’s important not to cross further north than the launch site.
